ClockGen works by changing the Pll clocks which control the FSB as well as PCIE speed and others. For ClockGen to work you must find your clock generator number. This number is most likely written in fine print on a small chip on your motherboard. For me this required opening the case, getting a flashlight, and peering inside. Some might prefer powering down their computers and placing it on a well lit table with a magnifying glass in hand.

Advantages: ClockGen works on many manufacturer "locked" motherboard (such as HP and Emachine). Convenient sliders are used to change the CPU fequency.

Disadvantages: Finding the Pll requires you to open your case. Choosing the incorrect PLL and making a modification can result in your computer hanging and/or restarting.

Other: My overclocked CPU does run faster but I have noticed that some things are out of sync. This is most noticeable in dialog where video and audio are off sync at a percent proportional to my overclock.
